My Students
As a child, were you ever at home with nothing to read? Some families do not have the financial means to build a home library. Most reading takes place during the school day. You can give students an opportunity to read at home with books they can borrow from a classroom library.
My third grade students are eager to read, but most do not have an opportunity to select books of interest.
These children attend class every day and read the same stories. It would be exciting for them to be able to choose books from a variety of genre. This would motivate them to read more.
My Project
In order to get students to read more, I need to allow them to borrow books from the classroom library. Unfortunately, the classroom library is very limited. In addition, it does not include enough third grade level chapter books. This is why I would like to establish a classroom lending library. Students will no longer have an excuse or reason-not to read.
Reading at home will help students develop their comprehension and fluency skills as well as develop a love for reading.
Your donation will also help families that cannot afford to purchase books for their children.
