My Students

My students are part of a wonderful community in our small suburban town. I have the honor of teaching at the same elementary school I attended. Some of my students' parents also went here.

This is a tight-knit community that supports education.

My students' parents are very involved with their child's education. However, most of the families at our school do not have the means to donate supplies. My students are hard-working, resilient, kind, and creative. They love to read stories they have written. They can't wait to share a random act of kindness they have seen. I am so impressed with their generosity.

My Project

I am hoping to supply my students with sturdy book bins. At the beginning of each school year, I teach several lessons on choosing a "good fit book." These books aren't too easy or too hard, they are just right. Students will have these book bins with them all day with the books they carefully chose.

Having their book bins readily accessible will be a great way to promote literacy in my classroom.

I am also hoping to use the pocket chart as part of our phonics program this year. This will be a quick and easy way to show students how to make words using our phonics rule for the week.
