My Students

A classroom full of readers is a beautiful thing, and a sight that surely warms this teacher's heart. My students are voracious readers and as a result, we have a lot of books. We need help organizing our library,

My students attend a Title I, public school in New York City, where nearly 100% of students come from low-income households.

My students are a diverse group of intellectually gifted Fourth graders. Their interests are unique and varied, yet they share the trait of innate inquisitiveness. Our classroom is a place of discovery and inquiry. We strive to tap into our higher order thinking skills on a daily basis; pushing ourselves to explore and think deeply.

My Project

We were fortunate to just have two projects funded that provided a plethora of books for our library. Now we are hoping to receive some book bins to help us keep our library organized and tidy!

The book bins will allow us to organize our new books by genre and make them easily accessible to all students.

We are also requesting two math games to add to our Math Differentiation Center. After we complete our work in math every day, the students are able to utilize various activities in the Math Differentiation Center. By allowing the students to select their own activities, they are actively working to improve their skills and gain ownership of the material at hand.
