Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am extremely excited to join the 1st grade team at E. Elementary! Organization is the key to a successful classroom, and I want to set my students up for success right away. In order to do this, the students need containers in which they can keep their reading and writing materials.

It is my goal to help my students develop a love of learning through reading and writing.

It is also my job to guide them in book selection process so that they can grow as learners. Students must learn how to take care of their materials, and these book bins are a great way to keep books on their reading level and writing materials on hand.

My Project

They will choose a variety of on-level books and some interest books as well. They will also keep writing and other helpful materials in their bins. All of these items offer students a choice while learning. Students will spend time working from their book bin each day. Children show excitement in filling their book bins, and take great pride in cleaning and taking care of the bin itself. Each bin will have a picture of a student and their name, so they can easily identify their bin. The bins will be sturdy enough to endure everyday wear and tear. They will learn how to be responsible, independent, and develop a love for learning.

These bins will improve classroom management, build confidence independence, and help children become stronger learners.

It will teach them how to organize and care for materials. Learning to be an independent learner helps to set a foundation for lifelong learning.
