My Students
I teach in a high poverty portion of Southern Illinois. My students are special needs kiddos requiring some additional resources to aid them in being successful. These students are learning to cope with disabilities such as autism, emotional concerns, physical differences and many other ailments that make it imperative that I teach them self help skills at this young age. The students in my class require a great deal of assistance such as speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, adaptive equipment and numerous accommodations throughout each day.
My Project
The students in my classroom have difficulty manipulating writing materials and will often write on themselves and our tables. Boogie Boards give them the freedom to write independently without writing on various surfaces.
Boogie Boards are an exciting way to complete work while giving students the freedom to attempt these tasks on their own.
With the aide of boogie boards, students in my class will be able to use one more variety of manipulatives while learning to hold their writing utensil when learning their letters and words. These boards will bring about a new and exciting variable into our time spent learning to write!
