My Students

I work at a fantastic charter school with amazing, energetic kindergartners. Their brains are constantly taking in everything around them and applying it to the newly learned material. More and more the children are working with computers and technology and handwriting is becoming less and less at school. I feel it is still important for children to learn and practice writing on a daily basis.

We practice sight words and handwriting every day and go through a lot of paper.

Most of the time I don't want to give the students a whole piece of paper just to write down 1 or 2 words. Having the Boogie Boards, the kids could quickly write down their words and letters without paper.

My Project

Having the Boogie Boards will make the writing students need to show me either in whole group or small groups, more fun, more efficient, and less time consuming than doing things with paper and pencil, or even on the white board.

As a teacher, I need to see everything the students do, but I do not need to grade and return each and every paper.

Individual writing boogie boards will allow me to assess quickly, without handing out and having the kids take home papers they don't always save. It will also allow students to reflect, record, and compute in all subject areas!
