Serving students in grades K-12 requires an extensive library!
I serve students in grades 4-6 through Title I Reading, but also serve students K-12 through the Talented and Gifted program.
Students of all ages and reading abilities come to my room to check out books that are either checked-out from our small school library, or are not available in our library at all. Our elementary students are especially fired up about reading this year as we implemented the Daily 5 and CAFE reading programs. Keeping them matched with good fit books can be a challenge and requires a large collection of literature!
My Project
Many of my students hunger for the chance to read a great book. This year it seems there are many titles that they are "buzzing" about. Students from the Title I Reading program, to the Talented and Gifted Program are reading the Percy Jackson and Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. The Hunger Games series has become a big hit with the upper elementary and junior high students who have been introduced to the first book. They can't wait to get their hands on books two and three! I also have students who are not yet voracious readers. My goal is to motivate them with these popular titles.
Please help me pass on my love and enthusiasm for reading!
Many students have limited access to books at home, and few are taken to the public library. School is the place to get books in their hands and foster the life-long love of reading!
