Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Tagalog, Urdu, Turkish, and Spanish are some of the many languages spoken by the children in my classroom. Our school is a Title 1, inner-city school where 90 percent of the children receive free/reduced priced lunch.
My children are extremely eager to learn and are very appreciative of everything that is given to them.
They love coming to school and are excited to begin each day.
My students face many challenges in their daily lives. Having the necessary materials to learn should not be one of them. The only way I can ensure my children are successful in their educational journey is to provide these tools to them.
My Project
The more you read the more you know. The more that you learn the more places you'll go." ~Dr. Seuss
Instilling a love of reading in my student's is my goal every year.
Our school is starting a new reading program this year. I am very excited to be using it with my children. Research shows that this particular program has been very beneficial with struggling readers. For this program, the children need to have books on their Independent Reading level to use during Reader's Workshop and to take home each night. Funding is nonexistent and this program will not be successful without these books.
This year, I have children reading on Level A all the way through Level S. That is an enormous range and I need to meet all of these needs. Having these books for the children to read is going to make a world of difference for them.
These Level Ebooks will help my struggling readers. They are making nice progress and these books will help them continue to grow as readers. They are so eager to become better readers. I can't wait to get these books into their hands.
This is only one of the many levels I am going to need to successfully implement this program. I am anticipating that by the end of February, this particular group of children will be ready to move up to Level E. They are making great progress and are very proud of themselves. These books are next on their reading journey.
