Drums have the ability to engage even my wiggliest students! I will be starting a world drumming ensemble next year and am in need of drums to provide this opportunity for my students.
My students are a very diverse group of children with one thing in common.
They all attend a Montessori K-8 inner-city public school. In music class, they LOVE anything that gets them moving-whether it is dancing or playing instruments. For many of these children, this music class is their only exposure to the arts, and they value the opportunity to participate and learn.
My Project
How many of us were motivated to go to school by the extra activities offered? I am hoping to provide that feeling to my students through our world drumming ensemble. I am requesting 2 sets of bongos, a book, and a dvd for my students. The bongos will help add texture to our world drumming ensemble while the book and DVD will provide another avenue of learning.
My brother was very smart, but not motivated by academics.
It is when he joined the percussion ensemble at school that he made the decision to graduate. I am starting this world drumming ensemble in his honor, for all the students who struggle with school. My hope is that it is a safe place for everyone involved and helps get children excited to come to school.
