My Students

I teach at risk students from each of the K-5 classrooms in my school. These students require extra support in addition to regular classroom instruction. They are so eager to learn and want to be successful!

I believe it takes a village and work hard to support classroom teachers to ensure we are meeting each child's individual needs!

My Project

Parent and family engagement is key to a student’s academic success, therefore, promoting and enhancing family involvement is a top priority for our school. I work to teach and support parents in ways to engage their child in learning at home. One of the most simple, but effective things a parent can do at home, is to read to their child. This helps to develop the child's language and vocabulary, as well as allows them to practice important listening and comprehension skills. It is also a magical way to strengthen the intrinsic bond between the child and his or her family.

The bond created between a parent and child while reading is priceless.

My hope is to provide every student with a book to take home to promote family bonding time. Wordy Birdy will promote good friendship and help young students understand the importance of being a good listener. This will also serve as a way to encourage families to stay involved in their child's education.
