Bokashi Composting Consumables 1

Help me give my students supplies to fix and replenish broken and worn out items for school food waste composting program.

My Project

Since Bokashi composting does not require materials to be aerated, it can be easily done in the classroom. This method involves mixing effective microorganisms, molasses, and wheat or rice bran to produce a highly nutritious plant food. The resulting compost can be buried in garden trenches, while the liquid byproduct can be used as fertilizer tea for plants.

Bokashi composting offers several benefits, including odor control and faster nutrient-rich soil production.

The microorganisms in the Bokashi rapidly break down food scraps into compost, allowing us to return vital nutrients to the soil and promote regeneration.

As we end year 2 of normalizing school food waste composting, through the bokashi composting method, many consumables need replacing. Bungee cords, zip-ties, a clicker to track data and hand wipes are a few that come to mind.

Our school program empowers students and staff to capture organic waste and transform it into a valuable resource for the garden areas.
