Who are our students? They are a family of socioeconomically impoverished, at-risk, culturally deprived young people who come from rural, sheltered and neglected single-parent homes, and are often hungry (almost all receive free and reduced lunch). Many of our students do not have a home to call their own.
Our cheer team is an outlet for many of our students and we are very excited to reinstate this program after many of years without.
My students are excited to take part in this new and challenging activity.
My Project
Even though we are in the early phases of reinstating our school's cheer program, we are fortunate to have cheer uniforms that allow us to move forward without having to purchase all new. The thing we don't have however, is the body basic longs sleeve turtle neck leotards to go under the uniforms to ensure the students stay modest and covered while participating. This will also make the uniforms appropriate for them to wear during the school day on game days. The girls are very excited to try this new activity and want to look their best while doing so!
