Hi, thanks for reading this proposal! I appreciate your willingness to address the needs of teachers and students like myself and my children! I am a Bi-lingual Special Education teacher for second graders in the Bronx. My students are the age of most 4th and 5th grade students, but they function on a Pre-K level. We struggle to remember letters and numbers. We practice our days and months every year. Students are learning to remember their birthdays. Success for us comes little by little in small and simple steps. One thing that I have learned about my students this year is that they are very bodily/kinesthetic learners. My students need to actively participate in instruction in order to learn. We do our "Morning News" every day in our meeting area. I believe that adding a carpet that functions as a calendar will help us learn our months and our numbers as well as our letters better by allowing the students to physically participate in the learning. I found this great rug in the catalog, and would love to utilize it in our instruction. It is a lot of money, but I know that it will yield results worth every penny. Please, consider funding this calendar rug with accompanying numbers and letters to help my students learn in their strongest intelligence: bodily/kinesthetic. I will "loop" (continue as their teacher for a second year) through third grade with the same students next year as well, so I will have lots of opportunity to use the rug and accessories with this particular group of students.
