I would like to be able to enhance the education of my students through the use of music and movement. Research has proven that young children learn best by being active learners. I know that all students do not learn by lecture. Many of these students may be kinesthically gifted.
This program would allow for students to participate in physical activities and learn life long skills about the importance of daily exercise. Many of the students that enter school are overweight at age 5 and are not engaged in physical activities. Our school does not have a physical education teacher nor does it have a physical education program in place. Our students get music lessons during 12 weeks of school only. I would like to purchase music on CDs that will supplement the education of these students. Examples of this would include songs about the days of the week, months of the year, numbers, letters sounds, body movements, kids aerobics, etc. I work with two other Kindergarten teachers and will share materials to enhance the education of all 60 students enrolled. These materials are not consumable and can be used for years to come.
I would like to purchase 10 music CDs, a CD player, and various items for group physical education to be used in my class. I would also purchase batteries for this CD player and use this activity outside as part of our physical education program. My main goal is to enhance the physical well being of all students through fun activities.
