My students have great imaginations. They work hard to create great works of art. Some have great talent and make me feel like I have nothing more I can teach them. Others may not have a given gift of art, but they bring great creativity to the classroom.
Students strive, in class, to stretch their minds and experiences.
They are pushed out of their comfort zone and asked to try things they normally wouldn't, and explore mediums they have never worked with.
My Project
For this project, we would like to do an Art Gallery night. Each student will submit a chosen piece of art for the gallery. It will be combined with a silent auction of the art pieces. The hope is to create an art fund that allows us to do more fun projects. The gallery will be open to students and community members.
Students will get to experience having their artwork on display in an art gallery.
They will be framing their piece with a mat board like a professional art piece would be done before going into a frame. The work will then be on display in an area of our school that the students will get to decorate to look like a gallery. Students will also get to be involved in the event to help it run smoothly. Positions such as: guides, ticket takers, and servers.
We are collaborating with the culinary classes to have refreshments. There will be a small fee at the door. Those funds will go to culinary for their supplies. The auction proceeds will go to the art fund.
