All students deserve to have many books available to them to read throughout the school year. We are dealing with students who have lost the love of reading. They are able to read, but choose not to. It is my goal to help all students find books they love to read.
In order for middle school students to rediscover their love of reading, they need to have access to popular and engaging books.
Through this project, I hope to stock my classroom library with an array of books from all reading levels, genres, interest areas, and authors.
These books will also benefit The Riverbend Middle School Battle of the Books team. We will be taking members from RMS to compete in the annual Battle of the Books for our AEA district!
These books will be added to my classroom library for all students to be able to check out and read. In addition, these books will be used by our school's first ever Battle of the Books team.
Members of this team, known as the RMS BOBbers, will read all of the books, and then compete in a written and oral competition with others schools in our AEA district.
We are very excited about this opportunity to represent our school and our community.
All students at RMS can benefit from an abundance of new books by authors that they may not have read. Encouraging a love of reading is one of the most important things we as teachers can do.
