Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have one (teaching) dry erase board and 22 students that ALL want a chance at the board....why not give them their OWN boards? I remember patiently and eagerly waiting to be "the one" to write on the board, and now I have 22 eager faces smiling at me all waiting to be called on... with one board.
I work in a Title 1 school in GPISD.
The majority of our students are on free or reduced lunch. We have a free breakfast program for all students on our campus. Our school counselor also works to get supplies, clothes, and food to our families in need.
My classroom is very diverse. I have 22 students... and out of the 22 students there are 4 Gifted and Talented students, 4 ESL students, and one FOCUS student (a student with Autism). My students needs vary but they ALL need hands-on learning.
My Project
My students will use the plain side of the dry erase boards for Math problems and the lined side of the boards for phonics and writing. Students LOVE to write with dry erase markers and I feel like these boards will definitely impact their learning. The marker erases quickly and wipes the board clean giving the students more time to practice their skills.
These materials will definitely impact my student's learning in a fun and rewarding way!
No longer will they have to wait to be "the one" to go to the board, they will ALL get a chance to show what they know on a board of their own! How empowering!
