Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a charter school who serves at-risk youth. Most of them are homeless or under privileged. Some don't have ways of buying games to have at home for family time.
By providing board games for them they have something that the whole family can be involved in.
Some students at our school also have parents who are not involved with them and this would provide a distraction to their lives by engaging them in a fun activity. Playing stimulates brain areas that are responsible for memory formation and complex thought processes for all ages. Engaging in play assists in practicing essential cognitive skills, such as decision making, higher level strategic thinking, and problem solving.
