My Students

My students face many challenges both with literacy and life.

I teach 7th grade science to a very diverse group of high needs urban students.

Improving literacy helps the students in all of their classes. Our students struggle daily with many academic and social challenges. As a group, our team of 7th grade teachers want to motivate our students to read by providing them with books that interest them.

My Project

The Bluford Series of books would be a great resource for our 7th grade students. Since they are written to be relevant to urban students, our students will be more motivated to read them. Since they provide situations our students experience, they can be used during our student advisory meetings to promote discussion about their lives and situations they encounter ultimately promoting character. The books can also be used to promote positive behavior by using them as prizes for positive choices and behavior.

Please help our 7th grade students to acquire this set of Bluford High Series books.

As teachers of urban middle school students, we need to get as many resources as we can to promote literacy and integrity. Thank you for any support you can give our students.
