This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

hope this essay finds you well and filled with the spirit of giving. I am writing to share an exciting project that will not only enhance the learning experience of our students, but also create a lasting impact on their understanding of history and empathy.

Our upcoming production of "Antigone Now" takes a unique approach by setting the play in the context of the Russo-Ukraine war.

To bring this powerful narrative to life, we aim to create war memorials on stage, using florals, picture frames, and Ukraine flags. These specific items play a crucial role in transforming the stage into a visual representation of the human stories behind the conflict.

By incorporating florals and picture frames, we strive to immerse our students in a tangible and emotional learning experience. These visual elements will serve as poignant reminders of the impact of war, fostering a deeper connection to the historical events depicted in the play. The memorials will not only enhance the aesthetic quality of our production but also serve as educational tools, sparking meaningful conversations about the human cost of conflict.

Our goals for this project extend beyond the stage. We aim to create a learning environment that encourages empathy, understanding, and critical thinking. Through the visual representation of war memorials, our students will have the opportunity to explore the complexities of historical events, fostering a sense of compassion and global awareness.

What makes our students special is their passion for the arts and their eagerness to engage with challenging themes. They are not just performers; they are storytellers, seeking to convey important narratives that resonate with the audience.
