My students are sophomores making Bloomington, Indiana history. They spear-headed the student initiative to start a Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) chapter at Bloomington High School North, and have helped me maintain our chapter's community service projects and chapter work. While our chapter is very new, we have a great following and a potential to increase our enrollment since our school is made up of over 1,000 students!
Without my students, our organization would not exist in the same capacity.
They are dedicated, loving, and highly-motivated to our professional organization!
My Project
Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) is an important part of public school education. FACS teaches students real-world skills and makes the connections between classroom work and the community around them. Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) is a professional organization which focuses on the most vital portions of our lives as citizens. With FCCLA, I have seen my students thrive within the classroom, create new and lasting friendships, and break out of their shells to become amazing young adults! The National Leadership Conference is the largest FCCLA conference of the year, and is an achievement that must be earned by competing and attending the State Leadership Conference. My students competed at state conference in the Senior Interior Design category and scored a gold medal as some of the youngest students in their division! My students have earned their way to Nationals, and just need the funding to match!
