This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I believe every child deserves the opportunity for an excellent education, and I am proud to partner with my school, other educators, families, and community leaders to strive toward this goal. I teach in a high poverty school where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. These amazing students need additional support because most of them come from low-income single family households of which many have little to no support or resources. Despite some of the challenges they face in and around their environment, every year my students come to school excited, full of life and eager to learn.
As a member of the AmeriCorps program, I set out to make our people safer, stronger and healthier; to strengthen our communities; and to get things done for America.
As a member of Metro Atlanta Teach for America, I have been positioned to significantly impact the life trajectories of students in our region’s high-need communities.
My Project
The students will use the Judy Moody and Junie B. Jones books in literacy rotations. There will be plenty of discussions on comparing and contrasting the texts. The students will work on skills such as comprehension, fluency, emotion, theme, characters, setting, and many more.
It's our time to BLOOM into fantastic readers with JUDY BLUME!
This is a project that will benefit my classroom for many years. The books I have chosen have been popular and used for years. My students need an opportunity to see how any concepts they learn in my class can be applied to any book they might read. This will help them broaden their view of reading and learning.
