I have a great class this year. They are so sweet and are eager to learn. However, most of them come from low income families. Some of my kids care for themselves a lot of the time and are responsible for their own attendance at school. Yet they come and they do it with a smile on their face and are happy to see me and everyone else at school each day. These kids are mine 6 hours out of the day and their success is of paramount importance to me.
My Project
My project is one to increase literacy in my students. These materials will help me be able to provide audio centers to increase listening comprehension in my students. It will also allow me to better level my library based on reading level so that my students can better choose books that will match their reading skills. It will also allow me to provide more engaging centers so that I can have more effective small group teaching time to help struggling readers. I would be so grateful for the support in helping these students bloom into effective readers. Great readers improve academically across the board.
