This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I teach an enthusiastic, eager, group of second graders. My students come to school daily with a sparkle of inquisitiveness in their eyes.
In order to prepare students to meet educational goals of the 21st century, my students write on a daily basis. Teaching writing is sometimes a very difficult task because students are unable to see important elements in modeled writing. It is also difficult to move each and every child through the writing process in an organized way.
As a solution to this problem a document camera will enable each student to witness the writing process in real time. This teaching tool will keep students engaged in the writing lesson. A flag pen is necessary to highlight major details in pieces of writing. Also, as a way to keep students' writing organized, throughout the writing process, a "Writing Process Folder" is needed. This way each child will be knowledgeable of his/her writing and self directed through clues in the folder. Thus, allowing them to become more independent writers.
Through your generosity and kindness you will bring the gift of writing to a group of students who are destined to be the future leaders of tomorrow. Therefore, I am thanking you in advance for contributing to the lives and future accomplishments of these youngsters.
