Our classroom provides a safe place for children to learn and explore. Roald Dahl said, "The more risks you allow children to take, the better they learn to take care of themselves."
My classroom is full of energized first graders, ready to move and learn.
They have high energy levels and are never lacking when it comes to participation. Our day consists of learning through cooperative learning, teamwork, whole group, and individual learning. I like to mix it up!
Our students are diverse and come from many backgrounds and ethnicities. All of our students participate in our school's free or reduced-price lunch program.
My Project
In order for my kids to achieve reading success and comprehend what they are reading, they must be able to do it quickly and automatically, without stumbling over words. Phonics facilitates that process. With lots of practice sounding out words, in combination with other important reading skills such as phonemic awareness, letter recognition, vocabulary building, and concepts of print, they learn to read more fluently. My students need literacy games, phonics activities, and word working materials so that they can learn while having fun! With this donation, my students will be ensured best practices for reading instruction and will be well on their way to reading success!
By working hard to build their phonics skills, my students will develop an understanding of letters and sounds as well as an excellent sight word vocabulary.
This will set them up to become better readers and start them on the path for a lifetime love of learning! Most students get stuck at the blend and digraph level in first grade and need intervention resources. You will not only be helping my students this year, but for all the years and readers to come. Thank you so much for your support! It is greatly appreciated!
