Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is in a low socioeconomic area. 100% of our students receive free lunch. Therefore, they do not have the same resources or opportunities that other children have. Our school is located in Southern California outside the city of Los Angeles.
My students are active and energetic.
They love engaging and hands-on activities that allow them to be active. Each child comes to school eager to learn. We try to incorporate a variety of strategies in order to try to reach each child.
My Project
We are required to help students in small groups. However, the students do not have any hands-on activities that they can work on while I work with students in small groups. These materials will help students learn phonics, phonemic awareness, and number sense. They are perfect materials that will do more than just keep them busy while I help students in small groups. They are fun activities that will help them learn. They are also the perfect sizes for their small hands.
Using the math manipulatives the student will practice number sense during blended learning time.
They will be able to practice writing their numbers and basic number sense. They will also have the opportunity to practice writing their letters and phonemic awareness.
Our class was supplied with several listening centers. However, we do not have a CD player or a headphone junction box in order for the students to use the listening centers.
All of these materials will help my active and energetic students work in groups together during blended learning time.
