Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are from different parts of the world. They live in Fort Bend County, part of the fourth biggest city in the USA in Houston TX.
All of them have been affected drastically by Hurricane Harvey.
Most of them have been displaced and at this moment, lost everything that they and their families work to build and make the city their home. School is the only place they have to feel safe and welcome; our community and students need extra help at this very critical moment.
My Project
My students come from different countries and backgrounds, On August 25, 2017 their lives changed forever. Hurricane Harvey started his trajectory into the South Region of Texas. A majority of my students were evacuated and lost all their belongings included their electronic devices that they regularly used to complete activities during class.
These 5 HP laptops will help them to have the opportunity to continue their school activities during this unimaginable situation.
They will use the five HP Laptops to access applications and programs used during the activities in the classroom. They will not need to miss any of the great activities because they will have the technology in the classroom to use when they are not in the comfort of their home. This will allow them to learn in a self paced way, as well as being able to do classwork according to their individual needs. We have lost too many days of instruction and we already have so much catching up to do in school and be prepared to start our everyday routine, looking forward to a complete and great school year even with all the difficult weather and unexpected situations.
