Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
What a joy to see students greeting you with their warm smiles every morning. Every single one of them exudes the faces of hope for a brighter future. That's my third-grade students. My students and the rest of the student population in our school belong to low-income households. Each one of them is deserving of a better education especially in the advancement of technology.
Driven, creative, resourceful are but a few words that would best describe this bunch of third graders.
They never run out of ideas. They are ever willing to share their knowledge with our class. Consider a project done is one of the epic characteristics of this class. They are strong in the area of collaboration, cooperation, and participation. I am a very proud educator to have been given this opportunity to grow in knowledge with them this school year.
My Project
My students have recently gained the skills in creating documents and slides on their Google Classroom. They have successes in creating group projects and reports. At this point in time, I would like them to learn some apps that would broaden one's know-how in the field of technology.
Sock puppets, book creator, HP Reveal, TouchCast are among the few apps that the students can work with using the iPads.
These apps are helpful tools towards work collaboration, especially during blended learning tasks. For example, students can create dialogue using sock puppets. They can be authors and have their work published using book creator. HP Reveal is really good when creating augmented reality presentations. TouchCast is great for presenting a report on California's resources. There are a wide variety of apps that students can explore apart from what has been mentioned.
With the two iPads, we will be able to realize our goal in technology advancement. Who knows, they might be able to create their own app that would help them become better citizens of this country. Getting them involved with technology would hopefully motivate them to pursue a career in the areas of science, technology, engineering, art, and math.
