My thirty 5th grade students are creative, thoughtful and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They are hard working and show a thirst for knowledge that I love seeing at our school. So many of my students are quick learners who are then looking to further their knowledge in math and science by doing extended learning activities. It's hard to keep up with them!
By incorporating hands-on activities into our daily learning, my students are becoming professional problem solvers!
I know that they will be the future leaders of our fabulous country and I want to provide them with the best learning experiences that I can.
My Project
I will be using these supplies to create math maker kits. By having these math kits, all of my students will be able to use unifix cubes to help deepen their understanding of math and how numbers are related. With legos they can explore three-dimensional shapes as well as increase their understanding of fractions.
Matter is vital to our Science Core and pop rocks will give my students a "sizzling" way to observe states of matter!
As important as experiments are, a new set of matter reading books will help them to explore matter in another way. They will be able to become an expert on their book and then share with others in our class. The magnetic sort game will also create a fun way to learn about the states of matter.
