Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach students who come in to school at the very young age of four years old. This new endeavor is a first for many of them. I make sure to capitalize on this new endeavor by including exploration and discovery opportunities in our daily schedule.
Even at that young age, they are curious, eager, and excited to learn.
They love to experience new games and activities.
It is important to give these students life experiences through an engaging classroom setting. Research has shown four and five year olds learn best through hands-on, captivating experiences.
My Project
I am looking to increase my teaching toolkit by attending a professional development conference put on by many different educators from around the country. This two-day conference will showcase current researched based strategies that will take my classroom engagement to a new level.
Learning from the entire Get Your Teach On crew and gaining insights on their best practices and teacher successes, will help me in my journey to becoming a better teacher for all of my students, past and present.
I am looking forward to learning from the conference co-founders, Hope and Wade King, whose book, “The Wild Card,” inspired me to up my teaching game! As they said, “In the game of life, children have no control over the hand they are dealt. You, as a teacher are the wild card that can make a difference in your students’ lives.”
Help me attend this two-day conference and continue my journey to being The Wild Card for my students!
