This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
When you walk into my room, you walk into a room full of uniqueness and diversity. My students come from all walks of life and face so many challenges. In my room, you will find students from low-income homes, high-income homes, and everything in the middle. Together, we blend and learn how to accept and embrace our differences.
Individually, we all contribute to our class in ways that make each of us grow as a person.
Our class is made up of Hispanic, African-American, Caucasian, gifted learners and some learners that take extra support. Combined, these students share their experiences in a way that influences each others' lives.
My Project
Math is a subject that can be hard and difficult for many students. It becomes even more frustrating when learning in a boring setting. The goal of this grant is to blackout boring math and create a fun and engaging classroom.
Trading out a typical classroom for a room full of glowing fun and black lights creates a captivating place to learn.
Students work hard in different settings and this grant will allow me to create different environments without leaving the classroom. Working in the dark and using highlighters to create math brings a whole new level of creativity to learning. The lights create a fun way to learn and demonstrate their knowledge and skills.
This grant will allow my students the opportunity to learn in a non traditional way. They would love to walk into a blackout out room created with the bulletin board paper, glowing from the lights, and know that today, learning would be different and amazing!
