Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students this year are always excited for a new book in the classroom! They enjoy seeing and learning about worlds and neighborhoods different from their own. As a black educator, I want to give them an opportunity to learn of the richness, struggles, achievements and pure beauty of African American history!

During February we will not only celebrate love and joy but introduce inventors, artist and scientist that created some of the amazing things we have now.

And as the year goes on they will become accustomed to seeing black characters doing everyday ordinary things, reinforcing the commonalities and interest between us all.

I hope that for my students of color now and in the future, they will be excited and honored to see characters that look like them in their classroom library!
