This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach an energetic group of diverse 1st graders! My students are very eager to participate in learning and apply new skills. My goal is for all of my students to be ready for the next grade level by May. Whenever needed, I purchase materials out of my pocket to ensure that my students receive the high-quality education that they deserve. I also try to create activities that will sustain their attention and assist them with mastering skills.
My students are all curious little learners ready to explore and expand their knowledge on every topic that they are learning!
My Project
These books will make a significant impact in my students' learning. I will read these books to my students to educate them on Black History in the past and present. It is important to educate students on Black History. Black people have been through so much, but through it all we have persevered. The students we are teaching are our future doctors, lawyers, teachers and scientist. It is going to be up to them to help make the world a better place. As their teacher, I can do my part by instilling in them values like, honesty, handwork, love, kindness, respect for others and forgiveness. These books will be included in my daily reading. They will also be a great addition to my books to read during Black History Month and for the rest of the school year. I will shine a light on the accomplishments of black heroes! My black and brown students will see themselves in a positive light!
