Black History Month Performance:DIY T-Shirt Print Shop
My students need T-shirts to open their screen print shop and print the Winning 2nd Annual Black History Month T-Shirt Design for each and every student in the school for our Black History Month Performance.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students have deep thoughts that blow my mind every time we look and talk about art. I am so lucky to have the opportunity to help them shine. They are a little rough around the edges, but have hearts of gold buried under the poverty they were born into. In the art room, they learn to build their confidence with drawing and craftsmanship skills, but more importantly how to cooperate with one another while building a strong concentration muscle.
My Project
This is the 2nd Annual Black History Month Performance T-Shirt Design Competition and Print Shop. Last year, we built a screen print shop, but the only material we need are the items to print on. We do a T-shirt design competition every February and print enough T-shirts to dress all our K4-8th grade students in a unified shirt for the performance.
Students learn entrepreneurship and pride by giving them the confidence and skills they need to create a better life than they were handed.
Last year, Valerie June received one of the student's shirts and she showed it off on many media outlets.
