This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
"Take your design and apply it to something three dimensional." This is the challenge I am giving my students. Only, we are limited in what media we have to work with. I feel like a birdhouse painting project will be just the thing to inspire my Honors Art students to paint their design in 3D.
I teach Visual Art at a Visual and Preforming Arts urban school.
We integrate the arts into all core subject areas. As the art teacher I strive to give my students the most authentic learning experiences ever. Art is problem solving, and that is just what our students need.
My Project
With these birdhouses my students will be able to integrate all they have learned about design and color theory this year onto a three dimensional birdhouse, that they will be able to keep forever. It is not everyday that you get to learn how artists design and paint on something other than two dimensional media. I think this is a wonderful spring activity that will enhance my students knowledge of design and color theory.
As a city teacher, my budget is very limited.
I believe that my students deserve the very best in educational and artistic experiences. Please help my students have the learning experiences that they so greatly deserve.
