My Students
My students are amazing and really want to experience real science in the classroom. I am always looking for ways to get them hands-on experience, but materials can be very expensive!
I teach in Texas and have a very diverse group of students.
They come from all different backgrounds and appreciate each others' differences. They are great students but their scientific knowledge and interest would increase greatly if they were able to experience "doing" science instead of just learning about it. Please help us!
My Project
We are going to learn about biomolecules in my class. I want some lab materials so my students can learn how structure and function of these macromolecules are different. I chose a few labs that help demonstrate the difference between proteins, carbohydrates, lipids and nucleic acids by using indicators. I have also chosen materials to complete a lab on enzymes. The enzyme lab will show my students how enzymes speed up reactions. These labs will allow my students to be scientists and not just students. It will facilitate their learning by allowing them to experience what it is like in a science lab and it will help solidify their knowledge of biomolecules.
