My Students

I teach at an advanced school for high achieving students. All students are working at least one grade level above their actual age. Our students are a melting pot of nationalities, religions, and economic levels but the all share a love of being challenged and learning new things.

These students are the future leaders of Jefferson Parish and I see it as my responsibility to prepare them for the challenges ahead.

The science department at our school cannot be complacent, but must continually update materials and methods to best develop the skills and abilities of these future scientists, engineers, and doctors.

My Project

Printer ink will be used for both my Biology Honors and Chemistry Honors classes for printouts used in class. The PLA filament will be used in 3D printers to print manipulatives for Biology Honors Class. The manipulatives will be an accurate model of the Ribonucleic Acid translation to proteins from mRNA to tRNA to the primary structure of a protein's amino acids. This model requires multiple colors for multiple pieces to accurately depict the complex model we are learning in class for clarity sake. I am encouraged that with a tangible model the students will understand the concept and model from the book more deeply.
