My Students

Most of my students are from an urban area. They have chosen to attend our public charter school, to be a part of a school whose mission surrounds leadership, rhetoric, entrepreneurship, and debate, in a classical model, with twenty-first-century skills.

Our school receives less funding than traditional public schools in our area of the state.

This creates an economic hardship for our school. As a result, we have a challenging time acquiring materials to support advancing our curriculum for our students.

My Project

Providing students with a hands-on learning experience is vitally important in a science classroom to engage students in the learning process. These kits will provide materials for inquiry-based lessons that will allow students to delve deeper into the curriculum while solving real-world problems.

Modeling DNA to proteins is one of the most challenging processes for students to understand, but with a hands on kit, the students can visualize and construct each step that is involved.

In Forensics class, my students will be able to get excited about having the opportunity to solve The Case of the Murdered Mayor. I am so excited about the experience my students will have through these hands on lessons.
