My students need good biography books. Each year as a grade level, we do a living wax museum and the students take on the persona of a famous person from history. The Who Was/Is books help!
I am a teacher of 18 amazing kids from different walks of life, some from different countries. Each day that I teach them I realize just how much they are teaching me. I also discover every day that my students could benefit from something that my classroom lacks.
Our school has been rated an "A" school now for a while.
This is due to quality instruction and materials provided by the teachers and administrators, and the amazing support we receive from the parents. The students at our school learn what it means to be college and career ready every day.
My Project
Each year, our third grade students learn about a famous historical figure and become that person for a living wax museum project. I have discovered that the "Who Was/Is" series of books are a great way to get kids engaged in learning about historical figures and provide an excellent opportunity for my students to begin thinking about who they would like to research for their project.
By providing my classroom with a set of "Who Was/Is" books, you the donor are providing my students with an excellent opportunity to discover new historical figures and learn how to research using more than one source.
I have discovered that our school library is an excellent resource for books that my students may need for projects. However, having books on hand in the classroom is powerful and will help me to easily help guide my students towards deciding who they would like to research far in advance.
