8th grade is the best! My 8th graders come from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences. Our school is a Title I school. We're a suburban community that pulls students from a wide range of neighborhoods.
My 8th graders are on the edge between childhood and adulthood; they are so ready to soar.
In middle school, each day brings them closer to discovering who they're going to be. Each day gives them an opportunity to grow into responsible, respectful adults.
My Project
For this project, I am requesting 20 books to add to our classroom library. My students have been reading the biographies in our library like crazy! I am looking to add 20 more biographies from a more diverse crowd. The stories we don't hear about as often. My plan is to group biographies in bins according to the thing they are famous for - athlete, inventor, the first to do something - so that my students can keep reading about topics that interest them.
Readers of all ages can be inspired by these real stories from real people.
I hope that by adding these books to my classroom library, I can help inspire my students to dream big and achieve great things.
