Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am the Media Assistant (Assistant Librarian) at our elementary school and I am also a parent of two students who went to that school. The teachers are amazing here and work hard to provide for their students. We are a Title I school which means most of the students have reduced or free lunch.
Our library is used by over 600 students and we are in need of biographies for our library.
Our sixth graders will be headed to Jr. High next year and as part of their curriculum they learn about influential people. They are an amazing group of students and are excited and nervous for what Jr. High will bring.
My Project
I am requesting biographies about amazing influential people who have changed our world. We would love to get some new biographies for our sixth graders to check out! Our sixth graders research and write reports every year on influential people and present what they learned about to the class.
Many of the biographies we currently have are picture books and not chapter books as we are an elementary school.
I have selected a variety of people for these amazing kids to learn about, in the hopes that they will want to change the world too!
Thank you for investing in these sixth graders lives through reading!
