My students are wonderfully creative and imaginative thinkers. They amaze me with their innovative ideas and creativity! They are energetic and eager to learn!
My students love to learn from one another and they are very collaborative, cooperative learners.
We participate in many small group learning activities, and they are always respectful and thoughtful toward one another. We have a very diverse classroom, which makes our learning community even more special. These students are smart, motivated to learn, and passionate second graders!
My Project
My students are in need of a variety of current biography books about accomplished African Americans. To honor African Americans during the month of February my students will read a biography of their choice, conduct research about their person, and write a written report.
During their research, students will identify strong character traits that their person demonstrated which will provide the opportunity for students to practice and strengthen their reading skills.
Students will practice identifying character traits in inspirational African American men and women throughout history. This project will diversify our reading library and give students exposure to texts about African American singers, poets, athletes, politicians, inventors, and educators. This project will also complement our current Non-Fiction Reading unit.
