I am a second-grade teacher in a high poverty elementary school in southern Delaware. I have both regular education and special education students in my classroom. I also have a high population of ESL students who are either new to the country, still learning English or lacking language and vocabulary. I love teaching second grade! Second graders are enthusiastic about learning and becoming independent individuals. My students are so passionate about learning and work so hard to overcome their daily challenges from home and school. I am always looking for ways to continue to challenge my students and better prepare them for third grade.
My Project
This year our population has continued to grow but our materials have not! We have obtained several new students. Hurricane Maria had a huge impact on many families and due to this these families were forced to move. Lucky for us we have obtained several new, very kind students, who simply just want a safe place to learn.
Unfortunately, with the influx of new students, we are in desperate need of new materials to accommodate our new friends.
We are seeking additional bins with lids to store student math center materials. These bins will ensure that every student has a place to store their math manipulative and activities.
