I teach a 2nd grade classroom that is diverse economically, culturally, and academically. My students come from all walks of life. While some of them come from stable, two-income homes, others are from single-parent households who struggle to make ends meet. This diversity is what makes my classroom, our school, and the community in which we live special. I value the unique personalities and differences.
The community in which our school lies, is a very caring one.
Several years ago, a bus accident took the lives of two of our children and a teaching assistant. Through this tragedy, a special bond was created which remains and makes our school a wonderful place in which to teach and learn.
My students need sturdy new book bins for our classroom library. The containers currently in use are thin and break easily. I purchased them at family discount stores. Many of them are already falling apart after only one year of use.
These sturdy bins will hold up as the students pull them on and off the shelves to choose their books.
They should last a long time.
The variety of colors in the assortment will help me level, code, and categorize the books to make it easy for students to locate a book that is appropriate for their reading level and interest.
The digital timer pack that is included will help my second graders with time management in the library.
