The "Binky" project is a national organization that creates blankets for underprivileged people. Vanden High School is located in Fairfield, CA and serves the Travis AirForce Base military personnel. Through the "Binky" project, students in my Independent Living class have made blankets and will donate them to North Bay Hospital. When I spoke to hospital's Head Nurse, she said that I would be surprised at the number of babies that go home with nothing. If we can travel to the hospital, she is going to give us a tour of the neonatal ward and speak to my students about birth defects. Students need a bus for transportation (approximately 20 miles round trip) to the hospital. This is our community service project, and this semester, the students are studying Child Development.
