I have the pleasure of educating a lovely group of students at a charter school in Henderson, NV on the outer rim of the Las Vegas Valley. We are an amazing school with smaller class sizes. In our little school, we have an incredible opportunity of providing the AP Capstone Diploma program. This program provides students with AP Seminar and AP Research which are rigorous classes that embody college level research and writing skills.
AP Seminar is the first step in the AP Capstone program, and requires students to complete multiple research tasks involving real-world topics.
Every year, in January, College Board releases stimulus materials (a compilation of diverse textual piece with a common theme) for our students to read, analyze, and synthesize into an argumentative research paper. In order to provide tangible prints of these materials, I am requesting a spiral coil binding machine, so that I can print and bind them into a physical packet that will last for the 6 weeks we will use them. They will be able to annotate, take notes, and refer to the materials in a physical way that makes research and synthesis more understandable than having digital materials.
My Project
In order to provide tangible prints of these materials, I am requesting a spiral coil binding machine so that I can print and bind them into a physical packet for current and future students to utilize. They will be able to annotate, take notes, and refer to the materials in a physical way that makes research and synthesis more understandable than having digital materials. Each bound packet is theirs to keep and use, regardless of each student's ability to access the internet in their home. This binding machine and the other materials will make a huge impact on all of my current and future AP Seminar students!
