Help me give my students some resources to support them with language acquisision and communication abilities by using translation resources and bilingual literature.
How can I help every student succeed? This question often crosses my mind as I think about my class and the diversity that it is filled with. It is so exciting to work with such an eclectic group of individuals as we get to delve a little into each other's worlds and share a little piece of our lives together.
My students are 3rd graders, trying to find their voice to build a better future, while maintaining their individuality.
We are a Title I school with a large population of English Language Learners. They are inspired by exploring the world around them and how they fit in it, as well as how they fit together.
My Project
Many of my students speak a language other than English at home and/or have started their schooling in other countries. These students need additional supports to help them translate between their home language and school language. By providing visual based, dual-language dictionaries, and bilingual literature these students can continue to grow their vocabularies and become more independent with their learning and more excited to share their ideas. This can also help parents become more involved with students' education and support them on their academic path by continuing to bridge the gap between home and school. This home-school balance is necessary for the success of all children.
