My Students
I teach 3rd grade in a Dual Immerssion Program in Salinas CA. All of my students are English Language Learners. Some of my students speak Spanish others speak English at home, but all of my students come to school to learn in both languages: English and Spanish at our Dual Immerssion Program.
Our school highly promotes reading by using AR to set students goals.
Students meeting those goals receive a Triple Crown Certificate for all the hard work they put in reading during the trimester.
My students and I have been working intensively to read at grade level proficiency in both languages. We are setting realistic goals and are working to achieve those goals.
My Project
In order for some of my students to achieve those goals, and get close to grade level reading proficiency, they need a variety of book levels. Sadly, I do not have all the resources to do that.
My classroom library does not meet the needs of my classroom.
I used to teach upper grades, and the book levels I have are too high for my current students. A leveled library is very important in the early grades. With this donation, my students will be exposed to a greater variety of book at lower levels for both English and Spanish. With your generous donation, my students will be well on their way to reading success!
Your donation will help my students continue to learn how to learn. I will use these leveled readers for guided reading groups, and for independent reading at their individual independent reading level.
With your help my students will become better readers.
