Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Because of COVID-19, I am temporarily teaching a first grade class, blended (in-person and remote). The students do not have any technology in the building and we cannot move classrooms for any reason. The students need access to iPads so that they can access online programs we use for literacy.

My students are falling behind because of a lack of technology and materials in the classroom.

They are sweet, caring children who love to learn and have a love of reading. A lot of them have no books at home and need access to reading materials, especially electronically.

My Project

A lot of my students have no devices at home or in school to communicate and complete assignments. They are suffering and are in need of reliable technology both at home and in person, if we ever get back. I feel awful that I can’t communicate with them when we are forced to stay home.

Since we have been forced to stay home I haven’t been in touch with some because they don’t have the necessary equipment to work remotely.

These students need working, updated iPads. Many are sharing with siblings or don’t have any.
