I teach in a 5 grade Dual Language classroom. My students come a long way since K to now in the Dual Language Program. They are part of a new generation eager to master their learnings in English and Spanish. My students are kids that are eager to learn more and more as well as challenging themselves. My students are passionate to read in English and Spanish which let them learn new things as well as reinforced what they already know.
These books will help my students to continue the growing of their strengthen on their bilingual skills and will also challenge them to incorporate new information and vocabulary to their own academic repertoires. My classroom library is a place that my students enjoy, there they can use their knowledge to understand and analyze specific situations, as well as feed their imagination and brains with new concepts. Every book is a learning tool for my students. Every book in our classroom library is treated as a treasure that give us power through knowledge. Every single title of our classroom library has been chosen with a purpose: help personal grow to each of my students.
With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of bilingual books at their own grade level to enjoy independent reading time.
They will also be able to choose books that interest them. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in independent reading, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the bilingual printed word.
